Your direct TVET entry point
What can you study with a C Plain in Kenya?
Courses for C Plain in Kenya are mainly Level 6 diploma programmes. KUCCPS places C and C− within the general diploma-entry range. You can consider health, ICT, engineering, construction, teacher education, business, agriculture, hospitality, media, community services and law-related courses. Individual subject requirements still apply.
C Plain opens many diploma doors. Your subject grades decide which of those doors are genuinely open to you.
Start with two questions: Which subjects did you perform well in, and what kind of work can you see yourself doing? Then compare the qualification, practical facilities, complete cost, attachment and progression route.
Your starting point
What does a C Plain qualify you for?
KUCCPS uses C and C− as the general entry band for Diploma or Level 6 programmes. Direct degree application normally begins at C+, while Level 5 certificates accept D+ and D and Level 4 artisan courses accept D− and E.
You meet the general direct-entry range for many Level 6 programmes.
The mean grade alone does not secure entry into every diploma course.
A related diploma may support later progression under the university’s rules.

The detail many applicants miss
Do not check the mean grade alone
“C Plain required” does not mean every student with a C Plain qualifies. Health, architecture, law and other courses can set additional subject conditions.
Clinical Medicine example
One low subject can change the answer
KMTC currently requires mean grade C, C in English or Kiswahili, C in Biology, C− in Chemistry and C− in Mathematics or Physics for Diploma in Clinical Medicine and Surgery. A learner with C overall but D+ in Biology does not meet that combination.
KMTC diploma entry
Many KMTC diplomas begin at mean grade C, but Nursing, Pharmacy, Clinical Medicine and other health courses use different combinations of Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics and English or Kiswahili.
Primary teacher education
KUCCPS currently lists C for Diploma in Primary Teacher Education. Secondary teacher education generally begins at C+ and adds requirements for the teaching subjects.

What makes each route useful
Qualification plus practical evidence
ICT needs a portfolio
A useful ICT course should leave you with working projects: a website, business system, mobile application, network setup, data project or technical-support record.
Engineering needs equipment
Visit the workshops where possible. For construction courses, ask about CAD, surveying equipment, site exposure and attachment.
Business needs current tools
Spreadsheets, accounting software, stock records, purchasing documents, reporting and customer communication make the diploma more usable.
Service careers need real practice
Media needs a portfolio, hospitality needs kitchen or service practice, agriculture needs field exposure and community work needs credible placement.
A language-dependent option
Can you study law with C Plain?
Yes, through a law-related diploma where the additional requirement is met. For its May 2026 Diploma in Law (Paralegal Studies) intake, the Kenya School of Law required mean grade C and at least C+ in English or Kiswahili.
A paralegal diploma does not make the graduate an advocate
It prepares learners for legal-support work. Anyone whose long-term goal is to become an advocate should investigate the complete academic and professional route before enrolling.

A longer academic route
Can a C Plain student join university?
Not through the standard direct-degree route, whose general KUCCPS minimum is C+. A relevant diploma can provide another path, but progression and credit transfer depend on the receiving university and professional rules.
