How much do 2-month courses cost in Kenya?

A Computer Packages student mainly needs a computer, software and instructor time. A plant-operator trainee needs heavy equipment, fuel, maintenance and supervised machine time. Duration alone is therefore a poor way to compare price.

What are the requirements for a 2-month course?
There is no single KCSE requirement covering every two-month course in Kenya. Some institutional skills courses have flexible entry, while formal qualifications, external assessments and licensed occupations can have specific conditions.
Depending on the programme, requirements may include a particular KCSE grade, previous training, minimum age, identification documents, a driving licence or another prerequisite.

Look beyond the word “practical”
What does serious short-course training look like?
NIT’s documented practical programmes provide a useful illustration. Its Motor Vehicle Diagnostics programme recommends a short concept and safety briefing, instructor demonstration, two to three hours of supervised trainee practical work, then an independent competency attempt and evidence recording. Practical work accounts for 75% of that programme.
NIT’s two-month Excavator Operator Training is similarly structured around approximately 70% practical work and 30% theory. The subjects are very different, but the principle is the same: the learner must spend meaningful time doing the work.
A college can own excellent equipment and still give each learner too little practice. Ask how often you personally will use the tools, machine, lab or workstation.
