Raising the load also lifts the combined centre of gravity, reducing the machine&#8217;s stability margin.<\/p><\/div>\n  <\/section>\n\n  <section class=\"nit-pg-section\" aria-labelledby=\"overhead-heading\">\n    <p class=\"nit-pg-eyebrow\">Protection above the operator<\/p>\n    <h2 id=\"overhead-heading\">The overhead guard is a structural component<\/h2>\n    <p>The overhead guard is designed to provide protection against certain falling-object hazards associated with normal forklift operation. It should not be treated as an indestructible cage.<\/p>\n    <div class=\"nit-pg-highlight\"><strong>What to notice<\/strong><p>Look at the uprights, mounting points and overhead structure. Bent members, cracked welds, loose parts or unauthorised modification deserve attention.
