Can you upgrade directly to Class C or CE?<\/h2>\n <\/div>\n

No\u2014not from an ordinary Class B2 licence.<\/strong> Kenya’s heavy commercial route is progressive: hold B2 for at least two years before C1, hold C1 for at least two years before C, then build at least four years of Category C experience before CE. You must also meet the minimum age for the class and pass the relevant NTSA test.<\/p>\n <\/section>\n\n

A heavy commercial licence is earned in stages. The next class depends on what is already recorded on your licence\u2014not only on the truck you want to drive.<\/p>\n

That distinction matters. Category C covers heavy rigid vehicles, while CE adds the heavy trailer or semi-trailer combination used by articulated trucks. Before paying for training, check both the vehicle category and your eligibility date.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n\n
