Confirm that the registered name, campus and county match the place where you intend to study. Approval for one campus should not be assumed to cover another branch.<\/p>\n      <p>There is a second check that students often miss: the course itself. TVETA&#8217;s course register identifies programmes, levels and examination or assessment bodies. Two programmes with similar names may cover different tools, spend different amounts of time on practical work or lead to different qualifications.<\/p>\n      <p>Also confirm the entry requirement for the exact programme. In its April 2026 placement announcement, KUCCPS stated that candidates with KCSE grades from A to E could apply for TVET programmes in that placement cycle. That does not mean every learner qualifies for every course. Level, subject and assessment requirements can still differ, especially in regulated occupations.<\/p>\n\n      <blockquote class=\"nit-quote\">\n        <p><strong>Ask this:<\/strong> What should I be able to do on my own by the end of this course? What matters is whether you repeatedly perform the skill, receive correction and improve.<\/p>\n    <\/section>\n\n    <section class=\"nit-choice-section\" id=\"trainers\" aria-labelledby=\"trainers-heading\">\n      <h2 class=\"nit-step-heading\" data-step=\"4\" id=\"trainers-heading\">Find out who will actually teach you<\/h2>\n      <p>Do not stop at a list of trainer qualifications. Ask who teaches the class you are joining and whether that person has current experience with the work.<\/p>\n      <p>A strong trainer should be able to demonstrate a task, explain why it is done that way, identify unsafe or poor work and help a beginner correct mistakes. Industry experience is especially valuable where tools, regulations and working methods change quickly.<\/p>\n      <div class=\"nit-callout nit-callout--success\">\n        <p class=\"nit-callout__title\">A useful test<\/p>\n        <p>Ask whether trainers are registered where required, how practical sessions are supervised and what happens when a learner needs extra help. Some short institutional courses follow a different certification route from national artisan, craft or diploma qualifications.<\/p>\n      <p>Use the TVETA course register to check course and examination information. The Kenya National Qualifications Authority also operates the National Qualifications Database, where learners can search registered qualifications and qualification-awarding bodies.<\/p>\n      <p>Ask for a sample certificate if one is available, but do not treat the sample as proof on its own. Compare its details with the official registers.<\/p>\n    <\/section>\n\n    <section class=\"nit-choice-section\" id=\"attachment\" aria-labelledby=\"attachment-heading\">\n      <h2 class=\"nit-step-heading\" data-step=\"6\" id=\"attachment-heading\">Ask how industrial attachment really works<\/h2>\n      <p>Many colleges advertise attachment support. Work out the weekly transport cost and travel time. If you are employed or care for family members, confirm whether evening, weekend or online options genuinely apply to your course.<\/p>\n      <p>Practical programmes may still require physical attendance even when some theory is delivered online.
